NEWS - PhD Project, Cooperation: Predictor & Predicted?
Marten Appel starts his PhD at SODAS, University of Copenhagen.
Marten is looking at how we can use machine learning and XAI to 1) better understand the predictors of cooperation, 2) to investigate what cooperation, measured through social dilemmas, predicts in the real world, and 3) investigate how data-driven insights can feed into or interrogate existing theories of cooperation in the literature.
Marten will be combining large longitudinal psychological survey data with Danish Register data measuring real-world behaviour at the level of communities and individuals. He will also explore the utility of using data from video games to understand how people cooperate in a more realistic and consequential social dilemma scenario.
This 3 year project is funded by SODAS and supervised by Rosa Lavelle-Hill and Roberta Sinatra.
